Project Engineer - MEP
Job description
Support project managers in executing and managing various aspects of assigned projects. This includes monitoring the progress of engineering schedules with both the internal technical office and external consultants, following up on purchase orders with the procurement team, coordinating with subcontractors, and ensuring the smooth operation of projects.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development of project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans and coordinating with project managers.
- Define project roles and responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements; review and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Determine project specifications by studying product designs, client requirements, and performance standards; conduct technical assessments and prepare cost estimates.
- Ensure proper project execution by planning and conducting installation, operation, and commissioning tests for all systems involved.
- Establish project timelines by analyzing project plans and specifications, estimating time requirements, and sequencing tasks and resources.
- Maintain adherence to project schedules by tracking progress, coordinating activities among stakeholders, and addressing any arising issues.
- Oversee project planning and execution by reviewing technical designs, monitoring specification compliance, and suggesting necessary actions.
- Control project budgets by reviewing expenditures and managing subcontractor contracts in alignment with approved project costs.
- Prepare regular project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing performance data and trends, and recommend corrective actions as necessary.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project records and databases, ensuring all information is properly documented and backed up.
- Ensure compliance with legal standards and industry specifications, delivering high-quality work that maintains the company's reputation for integrity and reliability.
- Enforce health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations by promoting and monitoring safe working practices across all project sites.
Personal skills
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities
- Effective leadership and team management skills
- Proficient in writing clear and detailed technical reports
- High proficiency in English (spoken and written)
- Solid computer skills, including expertise in Primavera and/or Microsoft Project
Technical skills
- Proficient in budget planning, monitoring, and cost control.
- Skilled in cross-functional coordination and project collaboration.
- Advanced technical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Solid understanding of construction methods, standards, and best practices.
Education
Bachelor of Engineering with a specialization in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
