People Operations Team Lead

Our People Operations & Transformation team plays a key role in making that happen — ensuring smooth onboarding, accurate payroll processing, and efficient People (HR) operations that keep our organisation running at its best.
We’re looking for a confident and organised People Operations Team Leader to take day-to-day operational oversight of our employed staff stream. You’ll coordinate the work of a small team of two Administrators responsible for onboarding, employee lifecycle changes, and payroll preparation — helping to deliver a consistent, accurate, and high-quality service across the business.
This role reports to our People Analytics & Operations Manager and works closely with her to embed strong processes, maintain compliance, and continuously improve how our People Operations function works.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day oversight, guidance, and support to the People Operations Administrators.
- Coordinate the onboarding process for employed staff, ensuring it runs efficiently and provides a positive experience for new joiners.
- Manage employee lifecycle changes (such as contract changes, leavers, and updates) accurately and on time.
- Take responsibility for monthly payroll preparation, ensuring all data is correct before submission to our managed payroll service.
- Check and verify the returned payroll from the managed payroll service, ensuring accuracy before sending for final approval and payment.
- Act as the first point of escalation for the team, helping to resolve queries and manage competing priorities.
- Monitor and manage the People Operations ticketing system, ensuring queries are allocated, tracked, and completed promptly.
- Support audits, ensure compliance with GDPR and internal People policies, and help identify opportunities for improvement.

Promote a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Experience in HR or People Operations, with a solid understanding of onboarding and HR administration.
- Experience in monthly payroll process management is desirable – training will be provided where needed.
- Able to coordinate and support others, giving clear direction and maintaining strong standards of service.
- Highly organised and detail-focused, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Confident using HR systems and platforms (experience with HiBob or similar is desirable).
- Knowledge of GDPR and the handling of confidential employee information.

- £40-£45,000 annual salary
- 25 days paid holiday (increasing with service to 28 days) plus bank holidays.
